Fanfiction: Music-Meme take Lambo (Reborn!)

Notes: I had 485 songs on my I-Pod when I did this meme and the first one I got was the one and only opera aria! OTL
Summary: Ten takes on Lambo, from before when he became a mafia member until twenty years later.

1. Oh smania! Oh furie! ~ D´Oreste e d´Aiace - Mozart

Lambo liked how the music would always grow dramatic before something happened. He never mentioned it because it was one of ´the things that don´t get mentioned´ but one of his very first memories was visiting the opera.

He didn´t remember much. A balcony; dark, shiny and deep, deep red decorations, mouths and faces, muzzles and animals heads, plants growing on the walls, and furniture; shiny metal ledges and cushy seats.

He was looking down at the crowd when they sat down at their seats in the balcony and somebody very important to him – but he couldn´t remember any faces or voices, just that they were part of him at that time and were very, very important so that he would never forget – somebody had told him to be calm and watch because there was a stage and people would do some very nice acting and singing for him. He also remembered another somebody laughing and saying that they didn´t believe that he´d like the opera.

If he tried to remember, the voices sounded like love. Maybe that was why Lambo always refused to accompany any Famiglia to the opera. It was not the same.

But secretly he loved all the acting and the untold things behind it.

2. Suigintou no Yoru – Bleach Character Singles (Ishida)

He didn´t understand why his first family went away. He didn´t even understand the concept of having a family at that point of time. He only knew that they were there and that he loved them and that he wanted to be with them because it didn´t feel good otherwise.

He still doesn´t know where they had went. (All he remembers is a screeching and a crash and a white light and the world that seemed to break into all the bits it was made of before vanishing into the light and taking all the others away.. )

He does know what a family is when he meets the Bovino. It means that you are one of them. That you matter and care. This time it´s him who decides to leave.

A family means that you can come back again after you leave, right?

No matter how long it takes.

“Reborn is a dirty liar..!” It would have sounded better if he wouldn´t have sobbed that hard while saying it.

3. Rock Lee´s Theme – Naruto OST

Finally! Finally, finally, finally..!

Brushing his hair out of his eyes, Lambo got into pose. He finally got to show what he was made of! He could show that he was more than just ´the baby´ after tiring fifteen years on the sideline and being ignored ´Hey, look at me! I´m also here and I´ll kick your ass for ever trying to think that you could hurt Tsuna!´

But Tsuna pushes him back with a panicked look on his face. “Stay back, Lambo-kun! This isn´t a game!”

4. Invincible – Muse

Lambo-san is invincible. That´s what he always believed. First out of stupid childish vigor, and later on out of the knowledge that as long as he survived he could later on go back and change the past. Just wait until the bazooka´s being used again and drop some subtle hints. I´m sure one of them will understand. Reborn, Iemitsu-san, do you hear?

So it doesn´t make sense when it hurts while he realizes that they won’t be coming back again.

Not Yamamoto, not Chrome, not Kyoko´s brother, not Hibari, not the idiot.

…not the Vongola Tenth.

It wasn´t supposed to hurt because even though he was Vongola´s Guardian of Thunder, he was also a Bovino. He could change time, right? Just survive and wait until you´re called back at some point. Be prepared. Survive.

Nobody told him that surviving would hurt this much.

5. SABBATH – Demon Banquet

“When I´m big, I´m not going to be Superman. I´ll be GODZILLA!! RAWR! RAWR! RWAAA!!”

He always loved to be the one doing the chasing, even if that meant that he was the bad one or the one who would lose often. Being a monster was way more fun than being a hero who had to listen to all the rules and do the right things. Monsters could do what they want. Being a monster was more fun and I-pin screamed really nicely when he chased her around the flat, playing broccoli monster!

Years later, he wouldn´t have minded being the hero for once. Just march up and into the Millefiore´s base and defeat them all without breaking a sweat. But he couldn´t do it at that point, not while having to fear turning into a five-year old at the most unfitting moments.

So he had to hide.

“You know, I wouldn´t mind being a hero at least once.” I-Pin looked up from her text-book, laughing as if it were some kind of joke. “Don´t be silly, Lambo-kun! What would I do without my monster?”

He smiles as she brushes random strands of hair out of his face, saying nothing as her fingers touch horns that shouldn´t be able to stay on his head without any holding device and still stay there firmly.

6. Leave out all the Rest – Linkin Park

He doesn´t cry when he hears that the Tenth has died. He doesn´t cry later on either. Not when Maman breaks down in tears and I-Pin tries consoling her while holding back tears of her own.

He doesn´t cry during the funeral, or after getting punched by Gokudera for being a ´fucking insensitive prick´.

He doesn´t cry because it doesn´t hurt.

He´d lost one family too much to still be fazed by something like that. There was no gaping hole in his chest or a missing sky. The sky was still there and Tsuna-san wasn´t anymore. As melodramatic as he tended to be, Lambo never had liked them being reduced to such simple things as weather phenomenon.

He didn´t cry when he returned to the coffin in the midst of night, either.

It wasn´t that he didn´t want to. It had just hurt so much more than he could have expressed.

7. Kids – MGMT

Lambo loved to laugh and smile and care and be emotions. No matter what might come… It was his favor done to Vongola´s Tenth and the Boss of the Bovino who still sent him spare money, ammunition and letters, and last but not least to the blood-related family that he didn´t really remember but still loved anyway.

The adult´s world was tediously difficult and confusing with all its strict rules and things in it that one ought to consider. So the least he could do was be uncomplicated and honest while he is waiting at home for them.

Make sure that you come back good because I´ll be waiting and there´s still so many things that Lambo-san needs to show you! So he laughs and cries, but the laugh prevails because nobody likes returning to see a sad face.

8. Etna Rock – Disgaea 2 Soundtrack

Lambo loved to fight.

It was a thing he only found out about while he was growing older. Even though he was the Guardian of Thunder and thus supposed to be the defensive one who protected all the others, he loved to fight. The thrill of being in the midst of a fight and going all out in it made his heart beat faster and sparked a magical glow into his eyes.

It was fun to fight and show what you were made of, even if it sometimes hurt, especially if you somehow managed to get Hibari-san mad. Don´t pick a fight if you aren´t prepared that it might hurt.

Fighting made him feel alive, but it also sometimes made him forget that he wasn´t immortal so he tried preventing getting into fights too often.

9. Telephone X – Texas

One thing that had written CATASTROPHE over it in big, fat, neon letters was the time when an adolescent Lambo had found out about Romeo.

More precisely, when he had found out about the boy who looked like him and had very obviously been close to Bianchi by seeing a video of them portraying their relationship honeymoon-style.

10. Sakura Addiction – Hibari vs. Mukuro Soundtrack (Short version)

Being with the Vongola family was fun.

Every time the boy would grow tired of his usual games, he would just behave silently for a while – just a little while - and watch all the others that were now part of this new family.

Their antics were fun to watch and there was always so many of them.

Too bad Lambo usually fell asleep after less than five minutes of doing so.

Awww. These are really touching, and so full of awesomeness.
My favorites are drabbles 4 and 5. I've thought about how troublesome that could get for Lambo, when his 5 year-old self fires the bazooka, and that time when 25 years old Lambo showed up? After getting into the "future" arc, re-reading/watching that line, "It feels nostalgic looking back at you guys", it's really heartwrenching.

Lambo´s my favourite characters out of the whole awesome Reborn! crew, so I keep thinking about him and his special case at lot. It´s sad if you consider that he´ll never manage to match up with the other guardians or that he most likely wont even be able to attend a normal school after he´s turned fifteen..

I liked #3 a lot a lottt. Lambo's always trying to prove himself, but everyone else is always trying to protect him. <3

Lambo's such a interesting character. The timewarp must be really annoying for him. A double-edged sword, and whatnot. <3

No matter what he tries, Lambo´s going to stay "the baby" amongst the Vongola forever. <3

True. The whole timewarp shebang makes him entirely too interesting for me to resist. <3 I always wonder how his personality could change that much during that time-holes.

OMG I love them all ♥ #1 was a great starter, beautiful in prose and completely classy. KUDOS #4 for using Invincible (♥ Muse). It's so heartbreaking; his POV of the future, along with the events of his 10 years of growth, is one that I really want to know about. But because of all these loopholes, there's so much of his character, strengths and weaknesses, to explore. I think you did a wonderful job through these short fics >w< I also liked #8's last line. Great explanation on his passiveness as an adult.

awwww thanks a very lot! I´m the happiest when people enjoy themselves while reading my poor attempts at writing.^///^ I still feel that it were more the songs using me than the other way round. (I wrote #4 and THEN realized that I didn´t even know the lyrics at that time.. *sweatdrops*)

I agree completely with wanting to know more about what happened during that ten years of time. - and then another ten, after he survived the Millefiore >: About #8, I wrote it because I kept getting the feeling that adult Lambo often just waits for an invite to join battle. At least it looked a lot like that to me during the chapter with Romeo´s ghost or when he ´helped´ I-Pin defend the girls. If he really were that scared then he ought to do more than say ´I´m scared´ and look desinterested.

It's frustrating since, especially in the current arc, Lambo is pretty much tossed aside, and there's little to no new development for him. T_T It's a shame because his adult selves make him such a potential character to build on.

You're right about being invited into a battle @_@ W-well, he doesn't like pain... so he'd probably avoid if he had the choice. his TYL self feels almost more like a domestic person than a hitman XD; Well, he grew up being pampered and protected. But I do think he really does try his best... otherwise his demeanor wouldn't be that different in the future.

Yeah. D= First there were all those nice hints about Fuuta and trying to tell Lambo about something that might have happened and then.. DX Fanservice of the Tsuna and Hibari kind and lots of new characters! ~~Not that I´m complaining, finally getting more information about the Arcobalenos and Lal´s character development are very nice.~~ I´m still hoping that something like Lancia´s return! might happen in the future arc. - Just with Fuuta, Lambo, Bianchi and I-Pin.

True. It´s so difficult to pin this aspect of him down, especially with how little the informations we get are. Trying to kill Reborn (and get hurt) is ok, having to fight with a good chance of getting hurt is rather not, going off on missings with I-Pin is... @.o;;

Yeah! ;_; Guessing Fuuta is one of the few healthy influences XDD

It was actually the Arcobaleno developments that saved me because I was getting disappointed when it seemed like the future chapters were all just shounen fights T__T And..... I am not thrilled with Ginger Bread as most are. Seriously, the characters were what kept Reborn series strong, and I didn't want to see it fade away.

Little Lambo seem to have forgotten about his whole ordeal of defeating Reborn XD;;; Maybe it's in the back of his mind... B-but yes, I truly hope he gets a spotlight soon. Now that the other characters have learned the secret of the boxes/rings, just from that fact the future is changing since they're potentially stronger. And Lambo has to catch up ;o;

He might be the one to blame for his better manners and way of speaking.. and maybe a good sense of how to act when the gravity suddenly goes *POOF* XD ~~ranking Fuuta as babysitter = flying cow? 8D~~

I´m completely with you about that! I almost stopped reading at the Kokuyo arc because of that and when the row of new character to battle started up again I was rather disapointed. Ginger Bread.. I see him/her/the person behind(?) the doll mostly as a tool to get the background-informations for the babies into the story without too much fuss.

Yeah, it´s one of the things that bugs me. He gets over his wish to kill Reborn, but still refers to Tsuna as ´boss of Vongola´ or ´Vongola Tenth´. Oo; It´s also fun how Reborn only gets violent on him and Tsuna. ~~they´re fun to abuse?~~

Yeah.. Lambo go get an awesome box!! ..Or make Shou-kun faint by clinging to him! XDD

T_T Obviously the battle /won't/ be over until another 10 chapters, at least. *counts* Reborn, Lal/Colonello, Marmon, Verde, Skull, Ipin's master. And you're right @D@ It sounds like another arco candidate is highly possible. You know what I'm wondering about? In the 7^3 chapter, among the 7 pacifiers, there seems to be another faulty one like Lal's o_O?

His 5yr is always adorable anyways until his snot gets all over the place XDD ~~THE FACT THAT HE DOES NOTHING BUT CRY ABOUT SOMETHING MAKES HIM ALL THE MORE FUN TO TEASE. So bad ORZ I understand how Reborn feels.~~

Your Lambo is very carefree - and I mean that in a very good way. He's carefree even when he's an adult (again, in a very IC way). I really love how you've made it so painful to survive, to always be the one protected. For that reason, I think #3 was my favorite...it was just something I could see - the sweetness turning serious. Thank you so much for sharing these.

Thanks. Uzu-chan pointed out how carefree and relaxed Lambo seemed in all his travel back through time during one of our conversations and it kind of stuck. Personally I keep seeing Lambo as somebody who is strong enough to be weak and still give his best instead of despairing over it.^^

As for your writing, I really enjoyed it. I'd loved to read about such different sides of Lambo~<3 2, 3, and 5 were among my favorites, but 6 definitely won my heart. I mean...God, I can't describe how much I loved it. I guess seeing Lambo not able to cry because it hurt TOO much was something very different, but believable.

Thank you^^ I was a bit worried a bit that No6 might not be that believeable, but Lambo is a character who is seen crying almost always and I wanted to show that it was worse than the usual reasons for it. I´m glad that you liked my chaotic work.
